Playroom Makeover Full of Whimsy

This playroom was sad, beige, and chaotic. Didn't stop us from using it every day, but it still needed a major overhaul. My goal in this playroom makeover was to tackle it over the summer, because we use the playroom heavily while we homeschool in the room right next door. And I did tackle it. Full on. Had to ice after and everything. PS- To watch the series click here.
Here's what we did (and links to everything we used in the room!):

Obviously (cough cough) the first step was to wallpaper the ceiling. When I saw this Whirl Wallpaper from Nestig years ago I knew it belonged on a ceiling somewhere. Wallpapering a ceiling is not for the faint of heart--- but thankfully Nestig wallpaper is a dream to use ang high quality so once we got in a groove it wasn't too difficult.
The beams are rough hewn cedar 1x6's stained with Special Walnut then Jacobean.
Next I wallpapered the walls with this wallpaper. The greens and blues and mixes of patterns complimented each other so well--- something I was nervous about as the plan was to cover every wall and inch of ceiling.
We had these IKEA Havsta cabinets on the opposite wall in a little bit of a different configuration. I decided to flip flop them and switch out the middle cabinet to make it longer, feel built in, and have a little reading bench. I used these adorable balloon knobs from Zara. An unexpected hit was these mini chairs that my kids are obsessed with.

The "sconces" area actually these inexpensive lamps that I had my husband bend, and these pillows are from Target and I love them so much I may go back for more.

I saw this digital print and fell in love with it, and decided to paint my own version. I painted it with acryllic paints on a cheap Michaels frame. I removed the back and painted on the "glass" (really plastic), and spray painted the frame with Hunt Club Green by Rustoleum. Here's a video showing the process. The Winnie The Pooh stuffies are from Disneyland years ago, and I cannot find them for sale anymore (so sorry!).

On the opposite wall is the funnest make believe and sleepover set up ever! This is the bungalow kids bed with the bed tent from Nestig. For curtains I used these that match the play tent perfectly!
The play table was a garage sale find that my son plays trains on every single day. I also spray painted it hunt club green, then used a poly sealer to keep it from chipping. The rug is this one (its washable and yes i've tested it!), and the cute little mushroom stools are from IKEA. It doesn't look like they make these exact stools anymore, but they still sell the muhroom cushion for their other play stools!

In the back corner is the dollhouse I built with my grandpa when I was a kid that needs some TLC. I sewed some of my kids' old clothes into "balloons" and stuffed them with fill from an old pillow. I attached a yarn string to them and then stuck them to the wall with safety pins. I think it needs more don't you?!
This room was such an act of love. Seeing my oldest read on the "bench", my middle swing like a wild man and play in the playhouse bed, and my youngest point and talk to the birdies on the ceiling absolutely fills me up (and makes me forget about the crick in my neck).
As always, thanks for being part of this community. I hope I can inspire you to create a home life you love.
